This March, something big happened—we officially became a nonprofit. On March 13th, The Kringle Cause was incorporated as an Arizona nonprofit corporation. That might sound like a piece of paperwork, but for me, it was the moment this dream stepped onto solid ground.
In our first formal board meeting, we did more than just talk about the vision—we took action. The board voted to appoint our first officers, each of whom had already been giving their time, insights, and encouragement behind the scenes:
- Jeffrey “JP” Peterson was voted in as President. A steady hand with a sharp mind, JP has been a friend and supporter since the very beginning.
- Jamie Lovell accepted the role of Secretary. Jamie’s organization skills and thoughtful communication style make her the perfect fit to help keep our records clear and consistent.
- Christine Feller stepped up as our Treasurer. With a heart for service and a curious mind, she’s already deep into learning everything she can to help us stay financially transparent and mission-focused.
And—after some personal reflection on what this role truly meant—I was unanimously hired by the board as Executive Director.
Honestly, I didn’t create The Kringle Cause because I wanted a title. I created it because I couldn’t not create it. I saw a need, felt a call, and decided to follow it. But the truth is, leading something like this—especially when the stakes are so personal—requires structure. It requires people who believe in the mission and are willing to help carry it forward. These official appointments gave us that structure. They marked the moment this idea became an organization.
We also took time in this meeting to review, refine, and adopt several foundational documents: our bylaws, conflict of interest policy, and key board governance rules. Those documents are now available in the “March 2025” documents section of this newsletter for anyone who wants to see how we’re building this from the ground up—with transparency and intention.
More than anything, this month has reminded me that this mission isn’t mine alone anymore. It’s ours. And together, we’re just getting started.
