Building the Backbone: Setting the Stage for Growth

Every storybook castle needs a foundation — not always of stone and timber, but of structure, systems, and shared purpose. For The Kringle Cause, May was all about laying that unseen groundwork.

We started by making it official with the bank: the board voted to use Flagstar Bank for our financial operations. We opened accounts with Venmo, Zeffy, and Aplos, each selected to handle different parts of our giving and recordkeeping strategy. These tools will allow us to better manage incoming donations, track our finances responsibly, and build trust with the community that supports us.

Internally, we launched board-specific email systems to improve communication and accountability. While it may seem like a small step, having dedicated addresses for board correspondence is one more layer of legitimacy — and clarity — as we grow.

To make sure everyone has a place and purpose, we also formalized four standing committees that will guide key areas of the organization moving forward. These include:

  • Programs
  • Marketing & Social Media
  • Fundraising & Grants
  • Information Technology

And speaking of outreach, May also brought a new voice to our social presence: Shelby Biggs joined as a volunteer to help manage social media. (Yes — she’s family. And yes — she’s brilliant.)

All told, this month wasn’t flashy, but it was foundational. These are the gears turning quietly behind the scenes that will support everything The Kringle Cause does moving forward. From toys to mentorship to moments of magic — none of it happens without this structure in place.

We’re building something strong. Thanks for being part of it.
